Spanish wine selected as "TOP 10 Sommelier Selection" on 2012 China National Sommelier Competition.

Our Terras Gaudas and Clio wines have been selected by Sean Dou, sommelier of prestigious hotel Park Hyatt in Beijing and TOP 10 Sommelier of 2012 China National Sommelier Competition as his favorite wines to join the Competition Final that will take place next 24th September.

More than 100 F&B professionals and journalist will attend this event on the “Sunrise On The Bund Hotel” (Shanghai). The TOP 10 candidates will be gathered in Shanghai for the semi-final on 24 September morning. The 3 best candidates from the semi-final will be entered the Final on the same day afternoon in front of public. Final results will be announced at the Award Presentation Dinner begin at 6.30pm the same day. Selections of wine from the TOP 10 candidates, including Terras Gauda and Clio representing Sean Dou sommelier of Park Hyatt Beijing, will be available for tasting at the Grand Tasting session after the Final at 4.00pm to 6.30pm.

The head of Jury Panel is Prof. Tommy Lam, CSW, CSS, CS, CPW, Wine MBA, President of Asia Wine Institute and Master Judge is Brian Julyan, CEO of The Court of Master Sommelier.  Organizers of “2012 China National Sommelier Competition” are Shanghai Wine and Spirits Festival, China National Sommelier Association (Preparatory Committee) and Asia Wine Institute.

About the wines:


TERRASGAUDA. Bodegas Terras Gauda (D.O. Rias Baixas): WS: 92 points

The winery’s flagship wine, its prominent personality is the result of a combination of grape musts from the legendary Albariño variety (70%) with those of the singular Loureira and Caíño Blanco in the most adequate proportions.

 

CLIO. El Nido Winery  (D.O. Jumilla).  WA: 94 points. (WA: 97 points, 2004).

Wine made primarily with the variety of Monastrell, blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. Chris Ringland is the oenologist responsible for this wine which has merited splendid scores from Parker. It is a wine of great finesse and elegance, powerful and with an intense flavour.
